How To Hide Post Titles on Cubic Index page

  • Unknown's avatar

hi! I am using Automattic’s Cubic theme on wordpress.com for my personal lifestyle blog. I would like to be able to make an image formatted post without being required to enter a post title. The post title shows up on top of the image when the site is viewed and for my purposes, I would like to be able to choose not to. Is this possible?

The strange thing is, about half of my image post titles are showing up and half aren’t (which is the way I would have it were my choice), so I’m not sure what’s happening there. Thoughts?

Many thanks from me to you!
    Emily

Hi there, looking at your main page, the posts with the titles showing over the image on both the front page are set to the Standard post format. The ones where the titles are not showing on the posts are set as Image post format. If you edit those and change them all to image format, the titles will not show on the main page or on category, date archive and tag listing pages. The titles will however show up on the single post pages.

We could hide them with custom CSS, but that would require the WordPress.com Premium Plan upgrade which includes Custom Design and the ability to add custom CSS.

I see on at least one, you have deleted, or not added a post title. This is one way to do it, but search engines like to see post and page titles and not having titles could make your site show up lower in search indexes.

Hi! And thank you very much for investing the time into assisting me with this. See “porridge soaked grains” now, I have changed it to the image format and yet, the post title still remains. Any further thought?

The only way to do that it appears without the WordPress.com Premium Plan upgrade, is to not include titles on your posts. As I mentioned though, the search engines like to see titles and if they don’t see them, they can discount your page ranking and placement in the search indexes.
