How to hide posts?

  Hi
  Have you ever visited thenextweb.com or mashable.com? They are also a kind of blogs only. But they just show the heading of the post and some lines of the first paragraph of the post, in their homepage.
  But in wordpress.com blogs, when we open the blog, the complete post is displayed. Is it possible to show only the heading and some lines of first paragraph in our wordpress.com blog?? If yes, then how to do it?
