How to hide tagline and/or site title in React theme.

  I’m trying to hide the title and tagline for charliehanger.com, which is using the React theme. I found the code below in the forums, but when I put it into my CSS editor, it didn’t seem to do anything. (I’m a novice at CSS.) Any suggestions?

  #page-53 .page-title {
  display: none;
  }

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi Charlie – CSS customizations are specific to each theme, so the code that works for one theme won’t work for another.

  For your theme, there’s an option under “Custom logo image” here to check a box to hide the tagline:
  https://charliehanger.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=ttf-admin.php

  For the site title, try:

  .wf-active #title h1, .wf-active #title h1 a {
  display: none;
  }

  One more CSS question. (I promise I’m going to study on the links you sent me, but I haven’t had a chance yet.) On the homepage, I’d like to see what it looks like if I hid the main image and had the text spanning the page. Is there CSS that can make that happen.

  Also, on an unrelated note, how do I submit a site to be featured in the “Awesome blogs using Theme Name” section on each theme’s info page?

  Also, is there a way to customize the site’s html title tag? Right now mine only says “Charlie Hanger” but I want it to say something like: “Brooklyn Web Development, Digital Strategy and Content Creation | Charlie Hanger”

  Another option might be to simply have the tagline show up with the Site Title.

  You can hide the image with:

  .entry-page-image {
  display: none;
  }

  I’m not sure how to make the text span across that area, but you can ask for advice on that here:

  There isn’t any way to submit for that. The theme team selects sites from time to time.

  Also, is there a way to customize the site’s html title tag?

  There isn’t any way to customize the meta tag, but your Site Title is used as the title meta tag, so you can edit that to be whatever you like, and the tagline field is used as the description meta tag. Typically Google will show your tagline/description in its results.

  This title tag issue is kind of a deal breaker for me with the React theme. I only want to display Charlie Hanger on the top of the page but want the title tag to be more extensive. I’m hoping I’m not too late to get a refund for the theme. I’m going to switch to another premium theme momentarily …

  Hi Charlie – With all WordPress.com themes, the title meta tag will reflect your site title. It’s not possible to directly edit the tags on WordPress.com. You can read more about this here:

  If you need to be able to edit the tags themselves, you might want to move to a self-hosted instance of WordPress. You can read more about the differences here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
