How to Highlight and also to make my title larger font
-
Hi,
I earlier posted with a question to be able to format my text.
I didn’;t understand the link with code to highlight. That is I was directed to some wordpress place which said to insert some html code. However, I downloaded Windows Live Writer–but I still am not able to format my blog how I want
It won’t allow me to write a bigger title–or format the title in any way with color.
Also it won’t allow or transfer the highlighted part from Windows Live Writer to Word. Why is this simple basic stuff so hard. I see other people’s blogs and they have larger font for their title.
Why must I go through some complicated code (which wouldn’t work at all and did not even have good directions for a beginner in order to do a simple highlight.?
Is there some other program people are using to write their drafts which would work better. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

These are 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/
(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
Note: Any font changes to font families, colors and size in the blog title, tagline, post titles, page titles, categories and tags, and widget headings cannot be done without CSS editing.

It won’t allow me to write a bigger title–or format the title in any way with color.
Also it won’t allow or transfer the highlighted part from Windows Live Writer to Word. Why are you transferring it to Word? You are going backwards and if you paste from word, as I told you, wordpress will just strip it out because Word kills blogs and websites.
You publish your posts directly from Windows Live Writer. Do not transfer to Word. Do not collect $200.
As far as the post titles, those can only be styled via CSS modifications and that requires the Custom Design Upgrade which Timethief references and links to.

Im trying to find out how to get the custom design upgrade but it wont allow me. I’m using twenty ten.

That was a typo, SacredPath–I meant transfer it to Word Press. I got it about staying away from Word.
I’m looking at the various options–so complicated just to make a font size bigger–and also some other complicated thing to try to get it highlighted. So perhaps I’ll leave it all for now –and shoot the breeze about this with some Dad at my kid’s school.
The default font that my theme gives (courier, I think) is actually very nice and easy to read–I write long (too long for the web, I think. It’ s a different style of writing or different style of reading when on the web.) Whatever, it’s bedtime. Thank you all very much for your help. I’m sure I’ll be visiting again . . .

Ah, those pesky typos.
Changing font colors and sizes via WLW for post content is just a few clicks, but when you want to start styling titles and such, then that that requires jumping into CSS and CSS is more for global changes rather than one-off changes although one-off can be done too, it just requires the writing of separate CSS rules for each time you do that to a post title.

If you have the Custom Design Upgrade, please start a new thread in the CSS forum and I will watch for it and respond. Since this thread really isn’t about CSS, it could confuse things for others coming to this thread in the future.
