how to import blog from wordpress.org to wordpress.com

  Here’s an outline of how to transfer your site from WordPress.org (self-hosted) to WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/coming-from-self-hosted/

  Please understand that WordPress.com does not allow plugins, so if you are using plugin specific features on your self-hosted sites, you won’t be able to use those anymore. Also, you’ll need to choose one of the WordPress.com themes for your site (https://wordpress.com/themes/)

  Thanks melindahelt. Should I assume my blog won’t look the same since I must choose a “new” theme? What if I choose a matching theme to the one I already have, or isn’t that an option?

  It might be an option.

  Do you have a link to your current self-hosted WordPress site, and/or do you know the name of the theme?

  There are some theme that are available on both platforms, but not all of them.

  The problem is I can’t find my site this lovely morning since I asked GoDaddy to point my domain name to WordPress and now it’s in purgatory. But you’re saying some themes cross over. Good to know. I am on deadline for my next book and time is very tight so I’m hoping not to have to reinvent the wheel :)
