How to import wordpress themes?

Hi! I’m new here and am still trying to find my way around WordPress.
I’ve found a bunch of great-looking WordPress themes on Smashing Magazine but I’m not sure how to preview them on WordPress. I tried to copy+paste the CSS code into the editor, but it looks nothing like what it’s supposed to.

Its because you CANT import themes to wordpress. the best you could do it buy the css upgrade and try to recreate the look of the blog you want. remember that there is no official css forum for help or a few of us know CSS and somethings we are busy.

You could have simply posted the link to the page that details this same info, instead of being so rude.
And I suppose you are also too busy for spell check.

happy new year to everybody! :))
I’m also newbie on blogs and I also wanted to know how to upload themes dowloaded from free sites but seem this is not possible in fast/easy way.
anyway theme I use ( ludotana.wordpress.com ) is good enough for me and there is only little problem in the visualization of calendar’s date and I’d like to improve colors or graphism … but at the moment I can wait new themes I read we will have in 2009.
