How to import .xml file larger than 15mb?

    Hello, I need help importing an .xml file about 25 mb from my old wordpress site to my new wordpress site vuondaucuana.wordpress.com

    I downloaded the splitter from this link http://www.rangerpretzel.com/content/view/20/1/ but it does not work anymore.

    Can anyone help me please?

    I am not sure what this site http://www.rangerpretzel.com/content/view/20/1/ advises. Also, as far as I know, there is no limit on XML file size that you can import.

    But, here is what you can try. You can export contents for your old WordPress site in multiple bits.

    You can export by type – pages only, posts only, etc.

    And also by date to break it up into smaller files.

    That way, you can import all the content from your old WordPress site to your new WordPress.com site without hitting errors.

    Hi there,

    The best option is to try and split up the export from your old site, if at all possible. On the export page there should be an option to set a date range that will only export content published within that range. That way you can create several smaller files instead.

    The other option is to use an XML splitter. The one in the page you link to is the only one I know of, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find others if you search. There might even be a WordPress plugin that does this for you, if you want to try searching for one on https://wordpress.org/plugins.

    Import files cannot be bigger than 15MB on WordPress.com. This is displayed in the importer in WP-Admin.

    Thank you for sharing this information, kokkieh. I had a look at the importer on WP-Admin and you are right. I believe this should be mentioned on the WordPress.com Import section too: https://wordpress.com/settings/import
