How to increase editing area and delete annoying "writing helper"

  All of a sudden I notice my editing area is much smaller and going through the menus have no way to increase its size. It just so happens that with the shrinking of my editing area I also notice an annoying “writing helper” feature.

  If I need a “writing helper: I will return to school. Until then, please give me the option to dump it so I can increase my editing space.

  I edit in text mode and not “visual” (if that makes any difference) but I am referring to something that now appears BELOW my editing space which takes up real estate on my screen and severely limits the size of my editing area.

  HMMMM! Weird. It seems to have fixed itself with no encouragement from me. I will monitor over the next day or so.
