How to insert and image into a set of images

  I have a page which is almost solely images one after another, when I do ‘add media’ how can I control where the image is inserted. If I select an image, it is overwritten, and do not seem to be able to position the cursor in between the images. I guess what I really need is ‘insert image before/after the selected image’
