How to insert, move, resize, justify images in wordpress posts?

Inserting an image and moving it about has become so much harder with this new editor. There is so much help on the web that is out of date, being only relvant to the old editor, so it has become very confusing for the occasional user like myself.

OK, I now know how to insert an image. That took me 30 min of messing around to achieve… maybe I’m a slow learner but the wealth of confusing info on the web does not help.

However the image goes to the bottom of the page, irrespective of where the cursor was originally placed.

How do I move the image? How do I re-size it? Can I left/right/centre justify it? All these were easy to do with the old editor, but now have me baffled!

Is there a page somewhere that is just about images: insert, move, resize, justify etc? I can see bits of information scattered all over the place, some referring to the old method and some to the new. I’m hoping someone has written one coherent post somewhere that describes it all.
    Thank you!

    Inserting an Image
    1. Open your page or post you want to add the image to

    2. Put your cursor where you want the image to appear

    3. Click “Add Media” button

    4. The “Upload Files” window appears. Either drag an image into this window, or select a file on your computer after clicking “Select File”

    5. After the image uploads, fill out the information, and then click “Insert into Post

    6. Your image is now inserted into the post

Thanks, that I can now do. But an image at the bottom of the post is not much good, which is where it goes by default! Any suggestions on the move, resize, etc?

There is no ‘add media’ button on my screen, so that part of the response is (sadly) of no use to me. Or am I missing something basic?

Using the block editor you just click the “+” on the left then “image”. You should be able to resize an image just by dragging the blue dot to the right. Also, in the block editor there is a move up/move down arrow on the left for images.

PS: “Add media” is found in the classic editor. You can change to the classic editor by clicking the three dots on the far right and scrolling down to “switch to classic editor”.
