How to insert ‘read more’

    Even though I insert the ‘read more’ block, the entire blog entry is sent to the email subscribers. The words ‘read more’ and the title of the blog entry appear, but then the remainder of the blog is still available. I only want a portion to go out in the email so readers go to the blog and I can see the statistics.

    Hi there! Just to check, are your feed settings also set to show an excerpt only? This setting also affects how the email to subscribers appears:

    I have a very old site from 2009. I used to be able to use the “insert more” block and only the part above the block would appear in emails. I looked at the settings but my version doesn’t show the full text or summary option. Is there someone at WordPress available for a chat or able to look at my site and indicate what I can do?

    Hi there, chat support is offered in our Premium Plan (and higher) but is not an option on sites without an upgrade plan. However, we’re happy to help you here.

    I noticed that your 3 most recent posts on your site (on the homepage) show the full post as well, and do not cut off. Older posts on the homepage cut off as expected but not the most recent ones.

    After taking a closer look I think I spotted the issue. I noticed your 3 recent posts use a different block than the older ones. It uses a block I don’t recognize called the “Read More Block” instead of the “More Block” that we offer on WordPress.com.

    Out of curiosity are you pasting content from another source? In looking at your revision history it appears that the content may be getting pasted into the editor. Is this content from another WordPress site at a different URL?

    Thank you for your reply. I write my blog entry in Word and then copy it into WordPress. I try to write a new blog entry every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. When I post the entry tomorrow I will try to find the “More Block” and see if it works.

    Thank you! I apparently had switched to the “read more” block instead of the “more” block. When I published the entry today only a portion was sent out in the email.
