How to install and use wordpress on Chromebook ?

  Hi,
  I want to create my website offline on Chromebook laptop.
  So have installed WordPress from app store.
  Doesn’t seem to work.
  App asks for email then, after clicking on link in email, app requires email again and never gets beyond that point.

  Is the wordpress app supposed to work on Chromebook?

  Hi there!

  The WordPress app only provides an interface to manage an existing WordPress website (one hosted here or another hosting provider) – this does not install WordPress locally on your own laptop.

  Was there something you were trying to accomplish by using WordPress locally or were you just trying to edit your website when you don’t have an internet connection? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

  Hi, yes, I wanted 2 things:

  1) to edit offline.

  2) keep a copy of the website on my Chromebook.

  Can both of those be done?

  Thanks for clarifying! Neither item would be possible using the WordPress desktop app as it needs to be connected to the internet to work.

  The WordPress mobile app does allow for offline editing, but that’s not a feature on the desktop app.

  Regarding a copy of the website, is that so you have a backup? With sites hosted here at WordPress.com, we automatically back up your site so you don’t need to do that yourself.
