how to install blog subscription widget?

I would like to install the blog subscription widget and can’t figure out how.
Please help. I’ve read about it and searched the forum, but am missing a piece of the puzzle.
A step-by-step with screen shot would help at this point — I’m stumped.

So, you can drag it to your sidebar from Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard, you should find it in the list on the left.

All themes have a default widget display and when you put drug and dropped the blog subscription widget into the sidebar your choice over-rode the default display of widgets. That’s why they all disappeared. > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/09/28/the-no-widgets-paradox/You can add additional widgets into the sidebar whenever you wish to in the same spot > Appearance > Widgets and by the same drop and drag method. The blog subscription widget is not shown at all in my widget list. Is it missing because of the theme I’m using (a version of the default Kubrick theme)? Is there any way to add the widget to my list without disabling the ones I already have in place?
I’ve read through many pages in search of an answer, but I can’t find a way to add a widget that is not already there. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Guys
I subscribed to my blog at my home email address, when i clicked the link to activate it I ended up on a page where i could access my dashboard how is this so ?

Just checked again and when i copied it into the browser it takes me to the subscription manager, when i click on the link in the email that is when it takes me to a page wher i can access my dashboard.

Sorry to be a pain but this is crazy. When i activated my subscription I gat a retuen email advising me it had been activated, when i clicked on manage subscription i was again taken to the page where i could access my dashboard.

LOL your right hanni, i was going around the bend and thought I wonder if its because i was logged in. I logged out then checked the links in the email again and presto.

Is there a way to customize the icon that appears in the email updates to the left of the post title?
