How to install Semplice theme in WordPress and use it as my portfolio
-
Hi there, I have a bit of a weird one here. My WordPress account is currently linked to a domain triple3studio.co.za. This domain is an old one, what I want to do is use WordPress and link it to another domain (jamiemeyer.com). Currently I am using SquareSpace which links to the domain jamiemeyer.com but I want to dispense with that asap. I have recently purchased a product called Semplice (https://www.semplice.com/) which is designed for people such as myself who are primarily creative and not developers.
This should be straightforward enough as apparently all I need to do is upload WordPress (database) to my server and then install Semplice as a theme via WordPress. However I think the issue is a domain one – my WordPress account is associated with my Triple3studio.co.za domain and not my jamiemeyer.com domain, so it doesn’t work. So I currently find myself unsure how to proceed here, do I need to close my triple3studio WordPress account and open/download a new one linked to the domain I want (jamiemeyer.com) and then install the Semplice theme and proceed from there? Help please as I need to start creating my online portfolio using the Semplice theme/product that I have purchased. Any assistance at all would be hugely helpful here.
Thanks,

Hi Jamie! Just so I understand correctly, are you intending to host the new site using your
jamiemeyer.comdomain and the custom theme here on WordPress.com? Or were you thinking of using the free WordPress software which comes from WordPress.org?Here on WordPress.com we do see that you previously had a Premium plan, and had previously connected your
triple3studio.co.zadomain, but it looks like that was actually cancelled and refunded back in 2021, so we’re definitely not your host at this time.If you’re looking to do the latter (i.e. using the free WordPress software with your current host), then we’re not your best point of contact; you’d likely need to check in with your host about connecting
jamiemeyer.comto your current server and installing the WordPress software. If on the other hand you did want to host here on WordPress.com, what I can tell you is that you could simply add a new site to your account; and you’d definitely want the Business plan in order to use the Semplice product you purchased – it’s the plan which lets you upload custom themes and plugins as well as rolling in 200gb of storage and our daily backup service among other things:
