How to integrate my .com blog with Bluehost and enable plugins and tracking

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a wordpress.com blog which I registered under a free wordpress.com. I bought and registered my own domain name and attached my current blog to that which I purchased from wordpress´s domain selling website. THe sight is sunsalsaandsombreros.com.
Today I registered with Bluehost and connected my domain with them. However, I still don´t have a plugins option on my wordpress.com dashboard and I also want to use a redirection and tracking feature. I looked on the support site and it said if it was not a separately hosted site, then i wouldn´t have that plugin option. So I need to work out if my sight is separately, hosted which i guess it´s not because everything is registered to wordpress.com and then work out how to fully transfer it all the Bluehost and install the plugins tab and also the redirection and tracking tab.
Or, alternatively, do I actually first need to transfer my site to wordpress.org and then to Bluehost?
Could you please help me out??
    Thanks

  • You’ve still got the nameservers for sunsalsaandsombreros.com pointing to WordPress.com. That is why when you log in on sunsalsaandsombreros.com, you are actually logging into your WordPress.com site.

You can point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), with these steps:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

I hope this helps – let me know if you have any more questions!
