how to invite authors without requiring their own blog?

    Is there a way for my private blog invitees to join as authors without needing to create a blog or account with WP?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    They need an account but not a blog

    Individual accounts are how WordPress.COM (and you) control who has access to your blog and allows you to delete an Author if you want

    The I don’t need a blog seems to be a bit hidden for some people during the registration – but a blog name is reserved for their user name
