How to invite friends to view private blog

  This might be a silly question, but I’m new at this. I have just started a blog that I want kept private except for people I invite. But there doesn’t seem to be an option for enabling certain people to view without making them contributors/authors/administrators or making them join WordPress to view it. Am I missing something? Help!

  Hi. You can send an invite through Settings > Privacy, but
  1- The person has to create an account at WordPress.com if they haven’t already done so. If needed, there is an option under the “Username” box to create “Just a username please”.
  2- You still have to add the person manually like this:
