invite people to follow my blog by email without a wordpress account. friends are finding it hard to access
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Since you’ve chosen to make your site Private, only invited users who have a WPcom account will be able to access it. That’s the only way to maintain Privacy.
If you choose to make your site Public everyone will have access to it whether they have an account or not.

No worries @otpidusprime. It’s all good. I overlooked the email part. :)
@timeandtide2017 Once a user has a WPcom account and you’ve invited them to view your Private site, they will be able to subscribe to email updates. Do note that only text will be sent via email to those subscribed users. Images will not.
