How to justify text with the justification option gone
-
I took time off from blogging during March, and when I came back I found out that you had removed, from the ‘visual’ version of the Edit Post page, the option to justify my blog text (aligning each text line to both left and right by adjusting the word spacing), something that I had done in all of my 3,000 earlier posts. Four days ago I wrote a note about this here in the forum, but it fell by the wayside.
Now I have figured out how to handle this on my own without making the selection on the ‘visual’ version of the Edit Post page. To enter a new blog post now takes me just a few minutes more, and it works perfectly, because your editor can still do the job.
I looked at one of my earlier blog posts as it appeared in the ‘text’ version of the Edit Post page and used the preamble that your editor had added at the beginning of each of my paragraphs, namely <p style=”text-align:justify;”>. I copied that preamble into the beginning of each of my new paragraphs in the ‘text’ version of the Edit Post page, and I also added a </p> at the end of each of them there, and voilà – it gave me the same perfect text justification that I had always enjoyed!
Wordpress is wonderful – you really allow us users to do whatever we need done with our manuscripts! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @gymbrat, sorry about that. The justify button was removed in WordPress core a while ago. You can read about that here; mainly it’s an issue of how justified text appears on phones.
You can do a few things to work around that:
– Use the keyboard shortcut: Shift+Alt+j
– Use the wordpress.com/post editor
– If you have a plan that supports CSS, implement CSS that will automatically justify paragraphs on wider screens
I hope that helps!
