How to keep embeded photos from disappearing
-
This happens time and time again. I follow instructions and insert photos into blog post. All looks fine. I publish the blog. Several hours later I look at the blog and half the photos have disappeared. There is a big square with an X where the photo should be. I am ready to switch back to Typepad where I never had this problem.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When we hear the “big square X” we find that the blogger is using an IE browser and it’s usually one that’s out dated. Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies
Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.
http://browsehappy.com/Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?
You can use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.
Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Do note that I am using Firefox 7.0.1 and I can see oodles of images in the posts on your front page.

How are you inserting the images? Are you linking them from somewhere else online or are you uploading them directly to your blog? Can you give us a link to a post where this trouble occurs, and a direct link t the file of the image that doesn’t show for you?

Your front page has “oodles of images”, as timethief said, and they’re awfully large files (I checked some of them, and they are wider than 3000px and larger than 5MB: there’s no point uploading 3000px wide images when you display them at 300px). If you don’t have a fast connection, the browser may time out before loading them all.
Start by limiting the number of posts per page to only a few in Settings>Reading.
You can also use the read-more tag to truncate the posts:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
Also, for future posts at least, better downsize copies of your images to the desired width in an image editing application and upload and insert those copies. This way your page will load faster, you won’t waste your storage space, and you’ll get better quality too (because images downsized by WP lose some color and sharpness). -
