how to keep images and text from weird formatting

  • Unknown's avatar

I have an ongoing problem of formatting.
I create the blog in the box “New post.” I do NOT copy + paste it.

Often, the formatting gets messed up without me doing anything.
If I add a caption to the image, it will expand the image to go across the whole post. So there’s no caption on this image.

WORSE- the font changes size. See today’s post. I didn’t do anything to it after I posted it.

SURE YOU CAN Fix it- but I think something is wrong with your system.
OR Is there something I’m doing every week??? It’s really annoying. IT doesn’t happen every week, but often.

I’ve fixed your most recent post for you. You can take a look at what’s going on with your past posts by clicking on Edit and viewing your post in the HTML Editor:

What I see when I look at your HTML editor is that there are a lot of extra div tags being inserted, which can cause layout issues. Can you let me know the internet browser and version that you’re using to write on your blog?

    Ah- I use IE.
Perhaps I must avoid double spacing between paragraphs.
THANKS for the tip and for the help.

Okay, what version of IE are you using? One thing you may want to do is check the HTML editor as you’re writing or before you publish a post to make sure everything looks correct.

    explorer 9
How do I know if everything looks ok :-)

Okay, IE9 shouldn’t cause any problems with inserting HTML into your posts. You said above that you don’t copy and paste anything into your posts, is this right?

When looking at your HTML editor, if you see anything beginning with <div>, it’s possible that some additional coding has been added. As an example, if you look at “Mother guilt & father guilt” in the HTML editor, you can see ‘<div class=”mceTemp”>’.
