How to link category to an image widget in sidebar

  How do I get a menu items URL link so I can attach it to an image widget? I am trying to have my categories also accessible by clicking on images in the sidebar. I know how to URL link to an image I just don’t know how to find the URL of a category.

  Be aware that the primary feature of the Twenty Eleven theme is that there is no sidebar on Posts when titles or comment bubbles are clicked and they are displayed on their own pages. So if you use a Categories widget the widget will not display on those pages as there is no sidebar for it to display in http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/
