How to list products that people can buy in blank canvas

Hi there, I’m using blank canvas & I’m wanting to sell the badges I make. I will be using single posts (1 individual badge per post) & I’d like to know how to add a “buy it now” or “add to cart button”. Also, is there anything else I need to add to the post to facilitate the buying process? If you could explain how it operates & how it all needs to be set up, I’d appreciate it.

  • Hey there,

You might want to check out WooCommerce blocks: https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-gutenberg-products-block/ where it would be possible to the product to a page or post.

Just so that you know, when you install WooCommerce, a custom post type would be added to the site for you to work on.

To note, the business plan would be required in order to use these plugins above.

I don’t want to open a woo commerce store. My business is too small for that. From what I understand, I should be able to post my badges on blank canvas in single posts without upgrading my plan & plug ins. It seems pretty clear to me that you’re trying to get me to spend more money unnecessarily. I’d like you confirm that I can sell products on blank canvas with my current plan.

You’re more limited on the Premium plan than you would be if you upgraded, but we do have several options that you can use that you can review here:

    I hope that helps!

Frankly it doesn’t help. I’m feeling pretty fed up about all the hidden costs & lack of clear information that I can understand. When my plan expires I won’t be renewing it. I signed up with WordPress thinking I’d be able to manage things myself & I’ve discovered I can’t. I’m going to have to pay someone else (it won’t be WordPress) to help me set up my website. Not getting straight answers to the questions I ask is a WordPress problem.

  • Just to note, there is already an option to purchase items using Paypal – it doesn’t have an “add to cart” function but it does let someone make a purchase and pay you via Paypal, and it’s available on your current plan. You can find information about it here:
    https://wordpress.com/support/pay-with-paypal/

There’s another possible option to use a basic “buy now” button from Paypal too, but that requires a little more setup:

You could also consider using our Payments block to accept one-off or subscription payments via Stripe; though I should note that there are both Stripe fees and WordPress.com fees that apply in that case. We have the guide for that here:
    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/payments/

Overall there’s a comparison of the different options here if you wish:
