How to load plug in for social homes widget?

I’m not familiar with how to load a plug in. I’m trying to add the social homes widget to my blog. The instructions say to Put the ‘socialhomes.php’ file in ‘wp-content/plugins/widgets/ but I don’t know where to find ‘wp-content/plugins/widgets/.
Please advise.Thanks!

wordpress.com users can’t use php files, but wordpress.org blogs can. Even though I wish they would let, at least CSS users, use php files, (hint, hint).
I actually looked up that widget, and its a great widget, seems very convenient. But, you can do this manually. -

What’s the difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com? Why would you choose one or the other? Thanks @vivianpaige for the tip.
