how to maintain the custom header after CSS customization?
-
I recently upgraded to be able to customize the CSS of my blog, and the header that I previously had on the theme (which allowed a custom header) disappeared. Since I am not using my own server, is it still possible to use an image for the header (which is not hosted by some image hosting site), similar to the way the themes have custom headers?

Once you have the CSS upgrade, you have to enter the URL of the header image directly into the CSS.
-
You can upload the image to WP.com and use the url from there. Click on ‘new post’ (you don’t actually have to write a post) and use the image uploader there.

I’ve been having the same problem. I widened my primary column so my pictures fit and then my header disappeared… How do you add this into the CSS code?

Is this the blog you are talking about http://scrapingtheskillet.com/ ? If so, it appears you have fixed it.

Please help. I have the same problem. Not very tech-savvy at all. My image has disappeared, no matter which theme I changed to. I regret getting the Custom CSS cos I don’t know what I’m doing at all!

The instructions are in this thread. (BTW – looks like you copied the entire CSS and pasted it in, when all you really needed to do was paste in the items you wanted to change.)
I think your header image is this http://ngyilian.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/cropped-gr014957_51.jpg
Replace that url in the background url of the header.

I got that – thanks!
But there’s remnants that overpour out of the sides of the header and I don’t know how to rid of that.. -
