How to make a Linked Image Widget open in a new window?

Hi,
I have been searching the forums and tried a bunch of proposed answers, but I cannot seem to find the right one. I have three linked image widgets on the left sidebar of my blog and am looking to make the links open in a new window. I tried entering the HTML code in the “Link URL (when the image is clicked):” section, but to no avail. Can anyone offer any assistance?

See if you can post the same links in a post. I suspect they are being stripped out because they are advertising. If you cannot include the links in a post, then you will know the problem is with the kind of link it is. (WP.com strips out certain links automatically.)

If you think your links are among those that should not be stripped (it is your own product and a link to your own site, perhaps — though I am not staff & don’t know if even those are permissible), then you need to contact staff: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

You can make a blog post private so you can test this and the post won’t be visible on your site to anyone else.

And anyway clickable images in an Image widget cannot be made to open in a new window. You need a Text widget.
