How to make a post visible in a specific menu category, not only homepage

Hey! I’m using Satellite theme and I’m having troubles sorting new blog posts into specific menu categories – I’ve created specific tabs like traveling, writing or drawing, however, when I want to add a new blog post, it doesn’t offer the option to pin this one blog to a specific menu – for example on the page about traveling. Instead, the post only appears on the home page while the “traveling” page is blank. Can you help me out with this?

Also I couldn’t help but notice, having already tried several themes, that customizing buttom offers the same options for all of them – so what is really the difference between the themes when the fonts, for example, are the same for all of them?

    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • There’s no simple way to exclude posts from a site’s posts page – all posts are displayed on the blog.

    Workarounds include:

    – Using custom CSS to hide posts in specific categories from the blog. Custom CSS is available with the Premium or Business plans.

    – Instead of a posts page, add the Display Posts shortcode to a static front page, to define which categories’ posts you want displayed.

Themes have different layouts, colour schemes, and features. For example, some themes display posts in a grid, and some have a large featured-post slider at the top. If you’re looking for something specific and having trouble finding it, just let me know and I’ll be glad to help.

Well, it’s not really about excluding articles – I just want a blog post about, say, visiting Chicago, to be automatically posted in “traveling” section of my blog (and the homepage, of course); or my short stories to pop up on “writings” page. Maybe this thing called widget may help? Guess I’ll just try one thing after another and one theme after another till I find one where the articles show wherre they’re supposed to.

  • You can use categories and category archive pages to classify your posts. You can then link to your automatically generated category archives from your menu. Check out this guide and let me know if you have any questions!
