How to make a webshop layout (using paypal button)
-
Hi!
I need some help! I am not a big seller, I just want to make it possible to sell some of my artworks on my page. I have no bulk, just app. 6 items. I need some kind of a grid with a pic in small format that you can click to full size. I need a breif text under the pic and a PayPal button. Is it possible to do something like that? I am in the https:// so I need to do this in CSS. I have the Obsidian theme.
My current shop is not looking so good. :-D Pls heeeelp!

Hi Sandra,
Currently there aren’t any ecommerce integrations you can use at WordPress.com. The developers are (hopefully) busy working on something for the business plan – no word on when this might arrive yet though.
For now you can include a PayPal button – it seems like you already have this set up on your shop page.
Is there any specific help you want with styling that page as you have it set up currently?

Hi!
Yes I understood it was hard to integrate anything “proper”. I want help with styling of my “shop”. Have anyone an idea how I could make the style of the page to look a bit more nice looking?

Are there any other sites you know of that have shop pages you think look good? If you give me a few examples and let me know why you like them then I’m pretty sure we can come up with something that will show off your artwork.

… I do not need any fancy chart functions (I do not need any selection bars or rotating pictures lol), only the PP-button and a clickable picture that leads to a bigsize picture and the PP-button.
Per say: Just an overview of the artworks in a grid with a ecerpt text, clickable picture that leads to more information about the artwork and the PP-button. That would be better than I could dream of :-)

Is it possible to use the Achives function (album) to construct a layout in the theme? I have not figured out how to make an achives page yet though.

Archives pages are automatically created when you make posts. For example, any posts dated last month will be on this archive page automatically: artbytornroth.com/2016/06.
To make your site similar to either of those examples you will probably have to switch to the HTML editor when making your pages and add some code in to make it easier to style the content you post. It’s a bit hard for me to experiment as you’re using a premium theme so it’s a bit trickier for me to test it out.
I’ll have another look and see if there’s anything I can suggest but it might take me a little while to find the time!

In the Obsidian theme there should be a possibity to maka a discograhpy – and maybe I could just use this as an template to make a shop? Instead of using a cover I could use my artwork and in the link below put a PP-button? The thing is though, I am not able to find this feature in my WP theme. I am not able to download any plug-ins. I thought this was standard in the theme to be able to do a Album (my pods) and use audio lists as I also do audio/video work. I should also be able to do a videograpy… help. I am feeling stupid right now! :-D
I done a printscreen from the Obsidian theme page. https://audiotheme.com/view/obsidian/

According to the theme support page there should be a page template you can select that will display the discography style page. Try that out and let me know if it works, it seems like a good way to use the theme to show off your pieces.

Gah! My button in my shop is too pale! How do I make it more visible? I have tried to change colour in the button code, but without no success.
How can I change the colour to be darker?

I put this in the Css, maybe this is making it pale?
div.slideshow-window { background-color: #fff; border-color: #fff; } -
It’s probably easier to change it in the main CSS, this will do it for buttons on your individual “record” (shop item) pages:
.single-record .button { background-color: #777; } .single-record .button:hover { background-color: rgba(0,0,0,.8); } -

I’m sure it’s both! It looks great, well done. I’m really impressed with how you’ve set up a theme designed for musicians to work really well for artists. I’m bookmarking this so I can point other artists your way if they’re looking for inspiration.
