  How do I make my post shortened then have the Read more linked attach to move to the main post.

  I am using the fictive theme

  You’ll wan to manually add the read more tag to any/all of your post. You can choose exactly what stop to add that link. Here’s a post that shows you how to do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/
