How to Make Fixed Menu

  • Unknown's avatar

I am currently using scratchpad, which probably can’t do it since it isn’t listed in the description, but even when experimenting with other themes that use “fixed menu” I can’t seem to make my header main menu move while the visitor scrolls. Where do I go to make my header menu move?

  • Hi there,

Please give us the URL of the site you need help with.

    Thanks!

There’s the site, but like I said, the theme I am using most likely does not support the header menu that moves as a visitor scrolls. I am most likely going to change the theme once I find one I like, but even when experimenting with other themes that do support I can’t fix the menu.

  • Hi,

You’re right. This theme does not have an option to make the menu sticky. The only way you can do that is by adding custom CSS which requires an upgrade to the Premium or Business plans.

Try searching for themes by Feature and select Fixed Menu. There are 66 WordPress.com themes with this feature.

When you activate one of these themes, and you find the menu will not stick to the top, you must look in your Theme Options and see if the feature has been activated.

Let us know if you need more help.

  • Just wanted to confirm that the only way to make a fixed/sticky header in Scratchpad would be with custom CSS. If you decide to upgrade to a plan, let us know and we’d be glad to help you with the necessary code.

And if you’re not ready to purchase a plan, Thabo gave you good advice on how to look for a theme that has a fixed menu built in. Here’s a direct link to those themes as well:
