How to make fool-proof hard returns?

    Hi –
Grateful for any help on this issue:

I’m going batty trying to put one line of space between each paragraph in a post. Each paragraph of the post has an image inserted on the left. (It’s a book list, so the way it should look is a list of book cover images with text blurbs to the right of each.) For some reason, every time I do posts like this, the returns get all wonky. I’ve tried everything I know of, in both visual editor and html editor mode. The returns keep getting stripped out.

I wish I could include a screen shot here to show you what I’m talking about… Unfortunately the post I’m currently working on is private, not published yet.

But to show you the type of post I’m talking about, here’s one where I finally figured out how to manually keep adding returns in edit mode until I added enough to create space between paragraphs. (Yet if I were to go back into edit mode on this post and then update, it would all get messed up again. I can’t seem to create hard returns that stick) – http://parnassusmusing.net/2014/04/22/904/

Not sure if I’m even making sense, but anyone who can help will be saving my sanity. Thanks!

Define “everything I know of.” You should be able to do this with dir or br code. Failing that, you can build an HTML table that will keep everything where you want it.

Thank you, raincoaster — that may be the solution. Because the blurbs of text sometimes are shorter than the size of the images next to them, even when I do get a hard return in there, the next section tries to insert itself before the end of the image. (If that makes sense.)

So…. how does one build an HTML table? I’m not super-skilled in html, beyond what’s readily available and do-able with buttons on the edit page. (Obviously.) Is this something that’s relatively simple to do?

Thank you for the suggestion — I think you’re right.

    <div style="clear:both;"></div>

    – clear and start over after an image – survives Visual Edit Mode

Put image – then text – then code above

I use it all the time for my how to do it articles

that is how I get the breaks (but not the line) between each step on making lanyards & key fobs

auxclass – THANK YOU. That worked! You’ve just saved me countless more minutes and hours of frustration.

Thanks to you both for the ideas. I appreciate it.
