How to make front page show specific catagory

I was wondering if it is possible with out the use of plugins for my front page to show posts from a specific category, and not just all my most recent posts?

Hello again, There are two options for the front page of your WordPressdotcom site: either the blog page (default) or a Static front page.
You could set up a Static page as your site’s front page and use the Display Posts shortcode to display the category you want there:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/display-posts-shortcode/Note that on the Franklin theme, along with most other themes, the category page displays a header title like “Category: Featured Racing Tips.” To suppress the display of this title, you would need to upgrade to a plan that allows you to edit the CSS of your theme.

Oh sorry, that last bit about the category pages was supposed to be something different.
When you use the Display Posts shortcode, you’ll want to play a bit with the different parameters until the front page displays in a way acceptable to you. On my test site using Franklin, the following shortcode displayed the “Fast” category, the Post title, Date and full Post content.
[display-posts category="fast" wrapper="div" include_date="true" include_content="true"]However, when using the Display Posts shortcode, it seems Post titles do not display like they do in Category or Posts page, where the Post title is in a larger font size. In order to change that, you’ll need to upgrade to a plan that allows you to edit the CSS of your theme.
Sorry for any confusion caused.

Alternatively, is there a way to hide specific posts off the homepage? And keep the homepage as most recent posts, omitting the one’s i’d like.

Hello again, I believe preventing certain posts from displaying can only be done with some CSS and again that would require having either the Premium or Business plan upgrades. I’d also ask first in the CSS customization forum if it is possible prior to purchasing the upgrade (as CSS is not my strong point).
