How to make images/text overlap ?

Hi guys,
Just need help creating the effect of an image overlapping another images slightly or a text overlapping an image like in the link below.

Do you guys have any plugins or tips / divs or tutorials you can link me to?
Have been working on this for weeks and can’t seem to find any solution, so here I am begging on my knees.
