How to make it so only previews of blog posts – not the full blog text – appear on the home page

  Hey, I’m a WordPress rookie and I’m trying to set up my blog and make everything look nice, what I’m trying to do is set up my home page so that only previews of blog posts – not the full whole slab of text – appear on the front page.

  How can I do this??

  I read some other forums that mentioned index/home.php but I didn’t understand that, can you help break it down for me nice and easy, step by step??

  Oh also, I forgot the mention the theme I’m using is ‘Hemingway rewritten’ – does this theme allow me to do what I’m trying to do to the home page?

  If not, which themes can?

  Sorry to clarify – on my homepage I want a small preview of a new article/blog post that people click on which links them to the actual blog post

  To create excerpts, please refer to the following support page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/excerpts/

  Note that the excerpt feature only works with certain themes. If your theme does not support excerpts, you can use the More tag instead.
