How to make line breaks in comments?

  I can’t edit my comments. I want to use line breaks and paragraph breaks but it’s not possible. I have tried with the html things that are in the editor but nothing works. I have tried to insert
  but that doesn’t work either. Please go and check the comment with the poem at the page “about me” at kristinasaid, my english one. It’s just one long line and it doesn’t look good.
  Please how do I fix this. What are the codes that I shall use?

  I was writing an html code but you can’t see that in the text. It was br / within < and >

  This is actually how your chosen theme deals with line breaks. Basically, it collapses all whitepsace. Other themes, like Twenty Eleven, do handle this differently.

  So how to use the “code”-button in that case? Like the one above? I thought I could click on that and insert br for example. What function does it have?

  Basically, just type what you want in the box below, highlight it, and hit the code button.

  Ok thanks. I have the same buttons in my comment area in my theme, but when I do as you say I can see the letters I’ve typed within the <arrow ,for example br, arrow>, so I still don’t understand the meaning with it…

  Those are html codes. When editing comments, it uses a basic html editor and you will be able to see the codes inside angle brackets like
  which are normal html codes.

  Sorry, but this is too complicated for me since I don’t know anything about it. Is there some place in wordpress that explains how to use the code button in themes in comments? Can I use that button to create line and paragraph breaks in my theme? Or what can I use it for? What’s the function?

  Well, those just edit your comments and posts, not the theme itself.
