How to make My Background Image Opaque

  I’m using the lodestar theme to create a new website, and I really like it, but I’m looking for a way to make the background one solid picture & all of the header & body text (also the footer widgets if possible) appear overlaid. It seems to me that the easiest way would be to use CSS to make the background image completely opaque so that it simply doesn’t cover the header image, but I don’t know much about CSS.

  Can anybody give me the code to do this, or does anybody have a better idea?

  EDIT: I deleted the widgets, and changed the background image to a background color, but still none of the solutions for opacity have worked
