How to make my front page blog shorter

  Hi!

  I just changed my blog theme from Suburbia to Visual. I have trouble changing my posting to a summary version instead of showing the whole blog content. Is there any way I can change it using this theme?

  Is there anyway I can put up a background image or color on the header beside the std black.
