How to make photos wider
-
I am using the linen theme and I’m trying to make my photos appear wider (1224px would be ideal). Here’s a link to my blog: http://originphotoblog.com/
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!! -
Hi there, you can change the maximum image of uploaded images under Settings > Media, on the Large size:
https://originphoto.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-media.php
Keep in mind that your original uploaded images will need to be at least as wide as the width you enter in this Large setting.
Let me know if that does the trick.

Keep in mind that your theme itself has a maximum width of under 1000 pixels, and your left-hand column is even narrower than that, so you won’t actually be able to display photos at 1224px currently, as they would be too wide for the theme.
You can try posting in Linen’s theme to ask the developers whether there’s an easy way to adapt it to accommodate that size of photo:

Hi!! Thank you so much for your help. I tried that, but it’s not doing what I want it to. Before I added the widgets to the sidebar, my photos appeared nice and big .. around 920px I think it was. Then when I added the widgets, the photos got smaller to accommodate them I guess. Here’s an example of someone’s blog who doesn’t have widgets and who has wide photos:

I think our last replies overlapped. :-)
Linen has a fixed width of below 1000px, so if you opt to display widgets in a sidebar, your main column will become narrower to keep the overall width the same. Good luck!
