how to make post count

  Hi all,
  I have seen on a few blogs, perhaps wordpress or not which has the post count. Having post count is good. Anybody knows how to do that?

  @bubel,I cannot name any on the fly atm, sorry.

  @vivianpaige :-I just basically want to have a blog post count at the side-bar at the right. What it basically does show at the moment are the post headings themselves and not as a post count as to how many blog posts were done in a month or something like that. Something like this :-

  September 2008 (4)
  August 2008 (3)
  July 2008 (8)

  and so on and so forth. You get the idea, it would be a way in which the author as well as the visitor knows the frequency of the blogger.

  I have seen something like it in many blogs, were they wordpress or not, do not really remember.

  I thought that may be where you were thinking about but I wanted to be sure.

  That option is in the archive widget. In your dashboard, go to design>widgets and click on the Archives widget on the right. Check the box for “Show post counts” and click “change.” Down at the bottom of the widget list, click “Save changes.”

  That should do it.
