How to make slideshow gallery image be linked to a page?

    I have a parent page that contains a gallery in slideshow format, and I want each of the images in the slideshow to link to individual child pages that contain more information.
    When I choose Attachment Page as the link when creating a slideshow gallery, the images don’t link to anything. I thought that creating the child page I want to be the destination, and inserting the same slideshow image into that page as well, would make the slideshow image a hotlink to the child page, but that doesn’t seem to work.
    How can I achieve this? The only options in the dropdown are Attachment Page or File.
