how to make sure email notification goes to followers when I post a blog

    my followers who were signed up to receive email notification when a new blog is posted did not receive email notification today when I posted a blog. How do I fix this? This is the blogpost that went out “silently”: http://artlightnow.wordpress.com/2013/12/03/the-show-hey-bud-the-tree/
    Must I re-post it and hope that email notification is back working (I have not changed any settings) or do you have a more reliable suggestion? Thanks.

  • Howdy,

    E-mail notification settings are up to the follower to set (if they go out immediately or in a digest or not at all), but it sounds like this may be an issue with this particular post.

    With that particular post, did you experience any errors when publishing it or was the post previously published and the date changed?

    Thanks for replying. With this particular post I did reschedule (update) the time to publish (prior to publishing), which I have done before without this problem. I did not receive any error messages or experience any publishing errors – just the problem described above that some of my followers (I’ve now heard from one who did receive the email notification) never received email notification (including myself). The ones who did not receive email notification had been receiving for prior posts and report that they have not changed any settings.
    Should I delete this post and re-publish with a different url or could this just happen again?

  • It shouldn’t happen again—we haven’t heard other reports of issues and haven’t seen any problems with our own blogs.

    To retrigger it being sent out to everyone, deleting and republishing is your best bet. When you delete it, please be sure to also remove it from the trash so that the same URL can be used for the new post (so be sure to have the content saved somewhere!).

    I’m checking into our logs to ensure this was only a one-time glitch.
