How to make words wrap, not hyphenate
-
Is there a way I can turn on word wrap so that a long word will automatically be moved to the next line instead of becoming split in two and hyphenated as is now happening?
Thanks! :-)

If you can point us at a location where this is happening, or locations, we can look into it for you. I need to be able to see it so I can make sure my solution works.

Thanks. It seems to only be happening on my newest blog: http://electroplague.wordpress.com.
But that’s still private until i get it put together. The theme is Twenty Twelve. My two other WP blogs both use the Twenty Ten theme, and this has never happened on them.
So maybe Twenty Twelve hyphenates instead of wrapping by default in text on pages, whereas Twenty Ten wraps by default? I would rather have words wrap and not become broken onto two lines.

Yes, the text on 2012 is set to auto hyphenate. To disable it, add this in the CSS editor:
.site-content article, .widget-area .widget { word-wrap: normal; -webkit-hyphens: none; -moz-hyphens: none; hyphens: none; } -
Thanks! I don’t actually know what or where the CSS editor is. Do you think I need a custom upgrade for that? I am flying free here. ;) I’ll have a look around my dashboard.

Hmmmm. Bummer for me. Does that mean I am stuck with auto-hyphenation on all my text in 2012 unless I want to change to a different theme (like 2010, which I know doesn’t auto-hyphenate)?

Yes, you need the upgrade. You posted in the CSS forum, so I assumed you have the upgrade.
Without the upgrade, you can disable auto hyphenation by pasting some code in the post editor, but you’ll have to do it for each and every post. Are you interested in this? -
I would like to paste that text onto my static home page at least.
I didn’t select what forum my question appeared in. I just followed to help link until I got to “ask your question” ;)

Switch the editor to “Text” (=code) and enclose the content in this code:
<div style="word-wrap:normal;-webkit-hyphens:none;-moz-hyphens:none;hyphens:none;"> COMPLETE CONTENT HERE </div> -
-
But, in my opinion, if you don’t like auto hyphenation better switch to a different theme. There’s nothing very special about 2012 anyway.
