How to manage my blog subscribers?
-
Hi, I was curious how I could manage my blog subscribers? I know several people have signed up and receive emails about new posts, but I do not have access to that list and cannot configure the settings for it. I would like to view all my subscribers and be able to send a custom newsletter out once in a while rather than an email for every post. How is it possible to generate and manage this list of people subscribing?
Thank you,
AnthonyThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s not possible, actually. WordPress.com doesn’t have that functionality, and in some locations (like Canada) sending people a newsletter when they’ve only signed up for blog updates is actually illegal.

Oh wow, I had a feeling that might be the case. Is it possible to work with a web designer who can configure my blog to do that? Of course I would have a box that said “please sign up here to post comments and receive an optional newsletter”. I would also like to offer a free E Book with sign-up. Is a format like this supported and possible? And if so I would I go about doing it?
Thanks again

You could probably have a link to a 3rd party list manager of some sort.
But, why not make the newsletter and put it on your site, then make a Posting about the newsletter with a summery / teaser and a link to click on to get the newsletter. You could make the newsletter PDF format to control the format. You could then have an archive of the newsletters for anyone that wanted to see what you said in the past.
Then you have just one list of subscribers and the newsletter becomes integrated with the blog. I am assuming the newsletter is relevant to your blog content.
Then no unsolicited email to worry about. Your Post would just be a short summery of the content and people can read it if they want.

Or do what I do: put a Contact Form on your site, with “Sign up to receive our newsletter” on it.

I used to be able to see the subscribers but I no longer can. Did wordpress change something?

Go to your blog stats and in the ‘general’ section click on “subscriptions” tab and then click on the word “active” after “site” and you can see a list of subscribers to your blog.

Me too. I was almost convinced that, for some mysterious reason, WP didn’t want us to know how many subscribers we had. I was also able to delete myself when I accidentally subscribed to my own blog lol

for some the number of my subscribers keep changing it went from 11 to 30 then back to 11,and then 30 can someone tell me why it changes everyday?

WordPresscom used to only count email subscribers and not those that had subscribed within WordPress.com (Readomatic) – then they started counting and giving you the Readomatic subscriptions also – but they had a bug in the count and counted a 3rd category that gave you an over count – that has been fixed and you should now know how many people are signed up to read your blog with email and Readomatic.

PS – if you look back a day or three you will see several threads on the sudden jump in subscriptions and they should have a bit more info.
