How to map a directory on my web site to my blog

  • Unknown's avatar

    I have a web site http://www.mywebsite.com
    I have a blog http://myblog.wordpress.com

I know that I can host my blog on my web site and have lots of templates and such.
However I will have to support it and install wordpress on my domain and so on.

I’m quite happy with the free support I get from wordpress on wordpress-hosted sites.
I don’t want to introduce a whole lot of stuff for me to get to understand and then to support (I’m busy!)

Question 1: Can I somehow tell my hosting company to map the folder http://www.mywebsite.com/blog to http://myblog.wordpress.com. So when a user of MINE goes to and types mywebsite.com/blog they think they are on my site with the mywebsite/blog url displayed but really they are on wordpress.
Question 2: Is it possible to use NFS (??) to achieve this by mounting the folder somehow?
Question 3: What if my web hosting company doesn’t use UNIX (doubtful I know)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

These questions are all for your hosting company, since there is no way to map a folder according to the FAQ http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

Q: How to I map my wordpress.com blog to a subdirectory of my current domain such as http://domain.com/blog ?
A: I’m sorry, but subdirectory mapping is not available.

Some folks have used a redirect but what will happen is that the real wordpress.com url will show up at the end, not your subdirectory. You would be better off mapping a subdomain, ie, blog.mywebsite.com
