How to map my own domain?

  I´m trying to map my own domain to my blog. When I do that there shows up an error which says: ‘the domain is not registered yet’ but my domain is registered and ok. Why do i still get that error? I have contacted the support where i bought my domain, and they say there is something wrong with WordPress.com since the domain is fully correct at their site. They say that wordpress have to make a zone file. What does that mean? I have changed the DNS to the right wordpress DNS

  Thank you! I added a zone file for your domain martinogmartin.no. That means your domain registrar (where you bought the domain) can now update your domain’s name servers to these:

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  That will point your domain to WordPress.com so you can use it here.

  I am also sending you an email with more details about mapping your domain — please let me know if you don’t get that email from me.

  Now I have paid for the upgrade, and changed my primary domain to martinogmartin.no, but when i try to open martinogmartin.no there is nothing displayed…

  Your domain’s name servers aren’t pointing to WordPress.com yet — for your domain to work with your WordPress.com site, it needs to use these name servers:

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  If you already made that DNS change, please give it a bit more time — it can take up to 72 hours for a change like that to propagate around the internet.

  Ok, thats probably why. I have to wait a few more hours. When i´m waiting for that change, can i use the martinogmartin.wordpress.com as adress while I’m waiting for martinogmartin.no to be ready?

  Sure! You can go to your My Domains page to change the primary domain on your site.

  When martinogmartin.wordpress.com is the primary domain, you can view your site at that address (and it won’t redirect you to your domain martinogmartin.no). That way you can keep using that address until your domain is ready.

  When your domain martinogmartin.no is ready to use, you can make that domain the primary domain on your site again.
