How to measure which category interests the most

    Hello,

    I’m creating a site with some kind of personalised healthy recipes that fall under different categories.
    The first thing that I would like to test is if there is interest and for which category there is more.
    How would you measure that? I think you can’t subscribe to a Category that might be the easiest way; so I was thinking on a Form Block asking for which Category you are interested to receive updates.

    But… Is that feasible? I think it isn’t, because a Form Block is submitting a message to the site owner that has no relation with followers. So the users submitting that form will never receive updates!

    How can I come back later to those users submitting the form?
    Can a user, that submits that form stating his/her category of interest, also become subscribed to the site?
    If not, can I import later that people contacting as site followers or send them a newsletter?

    Hi @s3rgil, a form would not automatically subscribe people to the site.

    But, you’re totally welcome to poll your audience with a form block if you’d like to do that. Your followers wouldn’t be looking at that data, right? You would.

    If you did want them to see the data, you could maybe do a poll instead.

    Another thing you can do is just start publishing recipes and sharing them and seeing which ones get traction. Use categories and tags. Then let the data build up on its own over time. Then you’ll see your top categories and posts in your stats & insights.

    Also, for what it’s worth, I’ve noticed on my own site that certain topics are way more popular during different times of the year. So, with a recipe site, you might just share what you’re making or what recipes you really enjoyed in a particular week. Even if you already published a recipe last year and made it again for the first time this season, you could write another post to reference back to it or share some variation of it. Stuff like that. :)
