How to migrate blog content to new, free domain which I claimed?

  • Unknown's avatar

Having selected the $8 a month “Premium” wordpress plan, I was offered a free domain to claim, which I have done.

Now, my question is, what is the process of making sure that people clicking the wordpress domain name that I had with the free plan, will end up at the new domain which I have claimed? I have links to previous blog posts all over the place in social media, and I don’t want anyone to be frustrated if the can’t find the content…

    Cheers,

    Hello!

Your free WordPress.com URL will automatically redirect to your new domain. Any links you have on social media will also redirect.

    See Register a New Domain:

On WordPress.com, you can register a custom domain (for example, yourgroovydomain.com) and use it instead of your site’s current address (such as yourgroovysite.wordpress.com). Your old address will still work, but we will automatically redirect traffic from your old address to your new one.

    Hope this helps! 🙂

Your actual address is greenpeoples.media which currently redirects to https://greenpeoplesmedia.wordpress.com/ Perhaps you need to make the new address as the primary domain https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

Thanks for all the help, commenters. I was able to use the support page on domains to successful conclusion.
