How to mirror a self-hosted WordPress blog on WordPress.com
-
Hello, I would like to mirror the content of my self-hosted wordpress website blog on wordpress.com. Will be interested to hear any advice you have. FYI, my site is http://www.cognitocommunication.com.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I would like to encourage you to read what Google’s position (Bing’s is the same) is on the duplication of identical content across domains https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66359?hl=en
Unless you intend to make the mirror blog a private blog I do not advise moving forward with this. If that is your intention please read on.
To change blog visibility to Public go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 1 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Then see here http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/05/19/how-to-select-a-wordpress-com-theme-part-1/ and scroll down to Creating a mirror blog.

Staff have ruled that if a site here is just a mirror of another site, one or the other must be set to private or the blog here will be suspended.

Yes, I’ve now familiarized myself with the rules and am rethinking my strategy. Many thanks!

That said, it does seem a shame not to be able to leverage the WordPress.com platform for a self-hosted blog (other than setting it to private which defeats the purpose). Is there no acceptable way of sharing the content of another blog on WordPress?
