How to move a Portlolio
-
I gave up, on getting help, on the inability to simply add photo files, to an existing portfolio; therefore, I created a new portfolio, added all my relevant photo files, to the new portfolio, deleted the old portfolio, and now, I can’t MOVE the new portfolio, to a lower location, in the portfolios list.

Hi,
I can’t MOVE the new portfolio, to a lower location, in the portfolios list.
I presume 1. that you’re referring to work a WordPress.com site, and 2. that you mean to move a project to a different location in the portfolio projects list. Whether in Calypso (My Sites) or WP-Admin, projects are listed in reverse-chronological order, according to the publication dates. So the easiest way to change the order would be to selectively change the publication date of one or more projects.
I gave up, on getting help, on the inability to simply add photo files, to an existing portfolio
Do you mean add photos to an existing project? If so then what happens when you try to do that?

Thanks, so much. Changing the publish date actually worked! I also encountered an error message, on numerous attempts, when attempting to simply add new photos, to an existing Portfolio. No one, at WP including higher up the food chain folks, could help – “just, try this, try that”.
Nothing worked, so I just created a new Portfolio, added all the relevant photos, to it, published it, and deleted the old Portfolio….which DID work.
Thanks, again,

David,
Glad to help. : )
Regarding the issue of failed attempts to add photos to an existing portfolio, there is only one previous topic started by you listed at your forum profile, so as a volunteer I have no evidence of the earlier exchanges that you refer to. However, we’d be glad to pursue that issue here if you like, or refer you elsewhere if necessary. -
I forgot to mention that the previous topic started by you that’s listed in your forum profile was started four years ago, on an unrelated issue.

Thanks, so much, for responding, and helping. I changed the “Publish” date, and it worked, as you said it would! And, again, no thanks, to the WP staff, I finally figured out, how to route around the problem, of not being able to add already uploaded photos, to a Portfolio. The route around – I created a new Portfolio, added all the relevant photos, to it, published it, changed the publish date, to, as you mentioned, move the portfolio down, in my portfolio list, and deleted the original portfolio. I have no idea, why, all of a sudden, I could not simply upload the new photos, and add them, to an existing portfolio. One of the WP staff asked me to change browsers; however, (and, I’m obviously NOT a computer guru), I can’t imagine, why my browser (Firefox) would have any bearing, on the ability, to “edit” the portfolio, and add six new photos. It has worked, in the past, not now.
Thanks, again,

Hi David,
Browser issues are the most common cause of problems with the editor; that why it’s the first thing we try to exclude when troubleshooting.
So let’s first make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/.
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies. You can find here more information on how to do that depending on your browser here:
https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I am using the (updated) Firefox, and, per another’s response, cleared the cache, etc. That didn’t work.
I never tried, to make the Portfolio changes, with Internet Explorer; however, next time I try to edit a portfolio, I’ll use it, and see what happens.
Thanks,
David
