How to move a posting from one page to another?

  • Unknown's avatar

My blog has 3 pages-Stories, Poems and About. I want to post my poem, Lasso, to my page labeled poems. Somehow it didn’t work the first time I tried. Instead it is on my Stories page. When I cut it off the story page and paste on the poem page it doesn’t work. I do this while I have post open and then close the post. My content–Lasso–remains on the story page. Please help me.
    Thanks.

    Hi Candace,

When I go to your site, I couldn’t find a Stories page, but I did find a Home, About and Poems page. Please note that all your posts are being published on your Home page. The Poems page is a static page, meaning that they not associated with a date/time like posts, nor can you tag or categorize a page. You can read more about the difference between a page and a post here.

It seems like you want to create a Poems page with all your poems and a separate Stories page of all your short stories. One way to do this is to create Category Pages.

    So you would basically:

    1) Assign a category to all of the posts. You can do poems and stories for example.
    2) Create a custom menu in Appearance → Menus.
    3) Use the “Categories” module to the left of the Appearance → Menus screen
    4) Add the categories you want to appear as pages to your menu, and drag to arrange them.

You can find more information with screenshots in the Category Pages guide I showed you above.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
